Record Bullnose Plane No. 077A

record 077A

The Record 077A plane is 4" (10.2cm) in length, weighs approximately 0.57kg (1 1/4lb) and has a 1 1/8" (2.9cm) wide tungsten steel blade.

This plane is used for trimming of joints, this trimming assists with the final fitting of the joint. The 077A plane has the advantage over the Record 077 that the front end of the bullnose is removable, this allows the plane to be used to trim or plane right up to the end of rebates, shoulders etc. The mouth being adjustable by the insertion of two packing pieces which can be removed to make the mouth as fine as required. The blade is shouldered and set at a low angle which requires the bevel to be up on the blade for use. The blade has screw adjustment; for accuracy the blade has a slot which locates over the adjusting screw. The blade is secured by the lever cap with a tightening screw. The lever cap is shaped for comfort and ease of use.

Note: this plane is referred to as a Record 077 plane in later catalogues as the original Record 077 (with fixed front) was discontinued.
